Utility 3241 is a 1985 International KME 20 foot rear walk-in utility truck. It has seating for eight with two seats in the front cab and a 6 person bench seat in the rear cab. In the front cab there is the area for a driver and passage and a set of controls and communication devices. While in the rear cab there is another set of communication devices, along with portable radio's, safety vests, flashlight and two Scott SCBA air packs.

Upon dispatch utility 3241 is the third due apparatus on all fire related incidents, while it is the second due apparatus on all motor vehicle accidents. Utility 3241 also responds to fire police calls, pumping of flooded basements, and any other special calls.

Utility 3241 is a very special piece of apparatus in the station 32 fleet as it has taken on the job of playing several different roles in the company, and has on bored everything to complete these jobs. One of these jobs is having a portable cascade station on bored. This cascade station of four 4,500 bottles and a explosion proof fill station and 14 spare 2216 psi air bottles allows our interior firefights to return to action.

Utility 3241 also has several other helpfully resources to our crews on any seen. As it has multiple axes, racks, shovels , halligan bars, tool boxes, gas detection meters, and other helpful tools to get the necessary job done. Another great resource on 3241 is our 6,000 watt generator with four 1,500 watt tripod lights with multiple extension cords and reels, allowing for these light to be set up anywhere on the scene and providing adequate lighting. You can find several types of saws on this apparatus. Here we have our K-saw, vent master chain saw, and a 16 inch skill chain saw. Allowing us to do any rescue needed, or being able to cut holes for ventilation of a structure quickly. You can also find our two back boards, basket stretcher, first aid supplies and kit, and a oxygen bottle for medical attention. We also have 12 salvage covers, an electric exhaust fan, a gas positive pressure fan, and four electric portable pumps.

As you have seen 3241 is able to do many jobs as well as special rescues that we can use our high angle rescue gear which consist of three 200 foot lengths of nine MM lifeline, four seat harnesses, and all the other necessary accessories. Also another job that can be completed by 3241 is the cleaning up of spills of liquids or fluids with our wide variety of absorbent material such as speedy dry, absorbent blankets, and pigs. These materials allow us to control any spill at any incident.

This is just a glimpse of the many responsibility of Utility 3241, as it has a wide verity of jobs and tasks. One of those being a command post if need be for our larger incidents and all the necessary tools also to be prepared if it is called upon to do this. Utility 3241 is the true back bone of the station 32 fleet as it has everything else that is need at a scene to help get the job done is the most productive way possible.
